Blue Mountains and Jenolan Caves
Ana and me, we had just the best weekend. We made a day trip to the Blue Mountains and saw the Three Sisters!! The Blue Mountains could be seen as the "Grand Canyon" of Australia and is also the biggest one after the one in the USA. We went to some outlooks and the view was just amazing... Ana didn't stop saying "So many trees... incredible!!" but I was actually more impressed by the rocks and cliffs of the canyon... it was beautiful!! We took a cablecar down to the valley and had a little walk around the "Bush"! The cablecar ride was fun, although a tiny little bit scary (as can be seen on the foto), it was pretty steep!! Nevertheless the "Indiana Jones" musik they played during the ride calmed us down again... can you believe that they played this song??? We couldn't stop laughing and singing the song for the rest of the day.. After the Blue Mountains we went on to the Jenolan Caves and had a guided tour through the Lucas Cave! The Janolan Caves are known as the largest publicly accessible cave system in the world and is open to the public since the 19th century.. They are actually stalactite caves (Tropfsteinhoehlen). Although the group was far tooo big and we had to wait for ages until the whole bunch of people moved from one spot to the next one I did enjoy it very much. It reminded me a lot of the Tropfsteinhoehlen in Austria where I went when I was little! Last but not least I have to admit that the autumn has finally arrived in Australia... and especially here in the south! We went up to 1000 m to one of the look-outs of the Blue Mountains and it was pretty chilly.. I'd give it 15 degrees not more... brrrrr..
